PERSIAN KING AT ETREHAM IN 2021!

The Haras d’Etreham and SF Bloodstock are to associate with Darley and Dayton Investments for the future stud career of Persian King. The handsome bay will join Almanzor, Hello Youmzain, City Light and Scissor Kick for the 2021 breeding season.

Successful in the Gr.1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains, the Gr.1 Prix d’Ispahan and the Gr.1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp, the son of Kingman regularly posts wide-margin victories. Persian King possesses all the attributes of a future top sire and hopes are high that his future stud career will match the brilliance of his racing exploits.

From the first crop of the renowned Kingman, Persian King is his first stallion son to stand in France. The best three-year-old of his generation with a Timeform rating of 134, the 2014 Cartier Horse of the Year Kingman is today one of the world’s leading sires.

An almost impeccable career

Second on his racecourse debut in the prestigious newcomers’ contest the Prix de Crevecoeur, the imposing Persian King followed on with five consecutive successes. He secured his first Group victory as a juvenile in the Gr.3 Autumn Stakes at Newmarket and lifted his first Group 1 title the following year in the Poule d’Essai des Poulains.

At four years old Persian King justified favouritism with impressive displays in the Gr.1 Prix d’Ispahan and Gr.2 Prix du Muguet. He left his rivals trailing in a brilliant performance in the Gr.1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp in September, beating five winners of a total of 12 Group 1 races.

His trainer André Fabre explained, “Persian King has shown great courage and consistency in all his races. He is a very calm horse, very relaxed but with a high cruising speed and explosive acceleration. He showed his quality at two years old by beating two future Gr.1 winners at Newmarket and he progressed further at three and four years old. I am delighted that this magnificent horse will remain in France and join one of this country’s leading studs.”

To end on a high …

Persian King now counts seven Group victories including three at the highest level.

Anthony Stroud remembers, “Persian King was a magnificent yearling on whom we based high hopes. He soon showed his talent, winning a Group 3 at two years old and he fulfilled his promise by becoming a Classic winner at three. He has returned better than ever this season and his success in the Gr.1 Prix du Moulin de Longchamp is one of the most impressive performances of the year. He represents a very interesting stallion prospect and I am delighted that Dayton Investment and Godolphin retain their involvement in his future stud career in France. The Haras d’Etreham boasts a rich history and a dynamic roster of stallions, so this represents an ideal partnership.”

Nicolas de Chambure declared, “We are very pleased to have made an agreement with Dayton Investments and Godolphin to partner in the stallion career of Persian King. This is a very positive sign for France and demonstrates their confidence in our breeding industry and racing system. This is also wonderful for French breeders who will have access to such a high-class horse from his first covering season. He has won three Gr.1 races including a Classic over a mile and he is a juvenile Gr.3 winner in England. He attempts an exceptional challenge in the Arc and will retire to the Haras d’Etreham following this race.”
