The Haras d’Etreham announces 2022 stallion fees for Almanzor, City Light, Hello Youmzain and Persian King

Ahead of the forthcoming breeding season, Nicolas de Chambure said, “I would like to take advantage of this announcement of our stallion fees to thank once again all breeders, both new and loyal clients, for their support in 2021. This is also an opportunity to confirm that our stallions will once again be limited to 140 mares for the season.

In a polarized market where the risk of overproduction is real, this choice seems both obvious and necessary. The rarity factor is a creator of value, and in this way we aim to guarantee the enhancement of returns on investment for breeders who support us and our stallions.”

The best son of Wootton Bassett is represented by his first juveniles this year. Almanzor’s progeny include numerous winners in four different countries and also black-type performers, and they demonstrate great potential for the future. Each of his winners to date has displayed talent and class, often scoring by wide margins, and trainers are full of praise for his progressive representatives, some of which boast Classic ambitions for 2022.

The strong-finishing runner-up in the Gr.3 Prix des Réservoirs over a mile, Queen Trezy will be aimed towards the Prix de Diane. Saving Grace flew home in the Listed Prix Isonomy over a mile to take a promising second place against the colts and she could possess enough speed to be prepared for the Poule d’Essai. Winner of his last two races for Sir Mark Prescott and Cheveley Park Stud, Abbado is likely to contest a Derby trial next spring, as could Franz who left a very favourable impression when winning on his debut at Haydock for Kevin Ryan. In the USA Unanimous Consent won by five lengths on his sole outing for Chad Brown and should now step up to Group company this autumn.Dissociate beat a field of 24 fillies by three lengths over seven furlongs at the Curragh and she will be prepared for the Irish Guineas by Paddy Towmey. Finally, the Haras d'Etreham-bred Filistine is the subject of extremely positive comments following her stylish success in a seven-furlong Novice Stakes at Newmarket on Friday for Thady and John Gosden. For his fifth season at stud, Almanzor will stand for 30,000€ in 2022.

After solid support from shareholders and breeders, City Light saw his first foals born in 2021 after covering 137 mares during his first season. As proof of the quality of his first progeny, some of whom are eagerly awaited at forthcoming breeding stock sales, he met 119 mares this year. A rare representative of the Kenmare line, City Light was consistent from two to five years old and at Group 1 level over six to seven furlongs, beaten by narrow margins in the Gr.1 Prix de la Foret and Gr.1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes and winner of the Gr.3 Prix de Saint-Georges and Prix du Pin. The first stallion by Siyouni to retire to stud in France, he remains the best son of the sire in this country. His fee of 7,000€ remains the same for 2022.

Two high-class recruits joined the Haras d’Etreham for the 2021 season.

Persian King, three-time Group 1 winner, Classic hero at three years old, juvenile Group 2 scorer at Newmarket and impressive third in the 2020 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, is one of Europe’s best sons of Kingman. His exceptional racing career, for which he was crowned champion miler in France, as well as his excellent action and remarkable attitude, have earned him strong support from breeders during his first season at stud, when he covered a full book of mares.A son of the brilliant Kingman, who has enjoyed another superb season with three Group 1 winners, and grandson of Invincible Spirit, Persian King boasts all the attributes to perpetuate one of the great current sire lines. His fee will be unchanged at 30,000€ in 2022.

Alongside Persian King as a newcomer in 2021, Hello Youmzain also received solid support from both French and international breeders. The handsome bay covered a full book of mares during his first season.

A son of Kodiac, he won a Group 2 at two years old, a Group 1 at three years old and at four he was confirmed as one of the best sprinters in Europe with success in the Gr.1 Diamond Jubilee Stakes at Royal Ascot.
