At three, Zarakem recorded five victories, including two Listed wins in the Prix Frédéric de Lagrange and the Coupe de Marseille, showcasing early in his career both his quality and his impressive turn of foot. Trainer Jérôme Reynier sums him up perfectly:

“Zarakem caught our eye as a yearling thanks to his physique and scope. His progression was remarkable, both physically and mentally. Versatile and classy, he proved himself at the highest level and remains an exceptional and endearing entire.”

At four, he reached new heights by winning the Prix d’Harcourt Gr.2 before delivering the best performance of his career with a second place in the Prince of Wales’s Stakes Gr.1 at Ascot, beaten less than a length by Auguste Rodin, Europe’s best horse of his generation. He then finished sixth in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Gr.1, ahead of Al Riffa, Shin Emperor, and Look de Vega.

With an official rating of 122, Zarakem stands out as an outstanding National Hunt prospect, achieving a higher mark than established sires such as Masked Marvel, Doctor Dino, No Risk At All, Karaktar, or Telecaster.

A versatile performer, he handled all types of ground and proved most effective over 2000 metres. Jockey Maxime Guyon recalls:

“He could do it all. He was brilliant on any ground and had a very strong finish. Physically well-balanced and powerful, he was a remarkable horse.”

By Champion sire Zarak, whose progeny excel both on the Flat and over jumps, Zarakem boasts an exceptional pedigree, combining the bloodlines of Mastercraftsman and Teofilo, a guarantee of courage and soundness. His frame, combining size and power, perfectly reflects his elite lineage. Franck Champion, representing Haras d’Etreham, highlights: “He has an outstanding and powerful physique, inherited from Mastercraftsman and Teofilo. He’s elegant, well-balanced, with great strength points, clean tissues, a strong hindquarter and a beautiful head. He’s like a Dubawi, only a few centimetres taller, and with even more class!”

Before beginning his stud career, Zarakem will be presented to the public at Deauville racecourse during the Arqana Autumn Sale on 19 and 20 November.
