Beauvatier retires to Haras d’Etreham for 2026, becoming the best son of Lope de Vega at stud in France.
A sharp, precocious juvenile, Beauvatier won in the May of his two-year-old season over 1000 meters at Chantilly, before beating the champion filly Ramatuelle on his second start over 1200m at Saint-Cloud. He then posted another two successive victories, winning the Listed Prix Roland de Chambure followed by the Gr.3 Prix La Rochette, where he once again showed his astonishing acceleration. He finished his juvenile year with a third place in the Gr.1 Prix Jean-Luc Lagardère, just a length and a half behind Group 1 winners Rosallion and Unquestionable, confirming his place among the leaders of his generation.
Continuing to race at the highest level at three and four years old, Beauvatier excelled in the top European races over 1400m. He finished third in the Gr.1 Prix Jean Prat and third in the Gr.1 Prix Maurice de Gheest against older horses in Deauville. He followed up with a third place in the Gr.1 Prix de la Forêt with a breathtaking finish, and then took fourth place in the Gr.1 Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot, this time over 1200m. He returned to the winner’s circle when taking the Gr.3 Prix de Ris-Orangis, before a career-best win in the Gr.2 Challenge Stakes at Newmarket, where, coming from the rear of the field, he showed a powerful turn of foot to pass all his opponents and win by two lengths in easy fashion.
His trainer Yann Barberot reflected: “He’s a brilliant horse! He showcased his talent in the Gr.2 Challenge Stakes. I would like to thank Philippe Allaire, who supports me by purchasing horses of this calibre for me to train. He has allowed me to step up to a new level. I have great confidence that the horse will be successful in his stallion career. He has precocity, speed, is incredibly consistent, and he has never seen a vet! I am very much looking forward to training his progeny.”
From the great Classic German family of Elle Danzig, Beauvatier is a son of Lope de Vega and out of a mare by Sea The Stars. He will be the best son of Lope de Vega at stud in France. Retiring clean and sound, he unites top bloodlines, exceptional acceleration, and the ability to perform on all types of ground.
Nicolas de Chambure said: “Beauvatier’s speed and precocity have always been impressive. His remarkable pedigree already made him an exciting stallion prospect when we bought into him at two years old, and he has met our expectations at every stage. He is the full package: powerful, consistent, with exceptional acceleration and the mindset of a true competitor. His racing career has taken us on a great adventure with our associates, and we are delighted to welcome him to Haras d’Etreham. A true 1400m horse, like Siyouni and Wootton Bassett, he has a very interesting profile for French breeders.”
