Strategic support for Metropolitan

Le Thenney, Haras de Voltaire and Haras d’Étréham have joined forces to support the development of METROPOLITAN, implementing an active strategy around the stallion.

In addition to the mares coming from their own breeding operations and sent to him as part of a long-term support plan, the three partners have also pursued a targeted acquisition strategy aimed at strengthening the quality of METROPOLITAN’s book.

As part of this initiative, 15 additional mares were acquired over the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Some of them have since been offered for sale in foal to METROPOLITAN on various international markets, helping to increase the stallion’s exposure.

Commercial profiles and strong pedigrees

Among these acquisitions are:

  • TURN CARTWHEELS — Listed winner, sold in foal to METROPOLITAN for 150,000 guineas at Tattersalls; she has since produced a very handsome dark bay colt.

  • EMBRACE — 2-year-old winner and 4th in a Group 3; sold in foal to METROPOLITAN for €165,000. Her dam is a half-sister to the dam of DELIUS (G1 winner) and to the dam of UNI, seven-time Group 1 winner.

  • SHY HI BYE — Full sister to DUHAIL (G2, G3 and Listed winner), sold for €135,000 at the Arqana Breeding Stock Sale 2025.

  • COUGAR ANNIE — Half-sister to ECONOMICS, winner of the Irish Champion Stakes (G1).

  • EGIATEGIA — Black-type filly, granddaughter of Invincible Spirit.

  • LADY MIA — 2nd in the Prix Miesque (G3).

  • SANTA SAVANA — Black-type filly by Havana Grey.

Other mares joining the programme include Dance Sioux, Obéissante, Scent Of A Woman, Markab After Love, Cdakhat and American Flight.

Strengthening both sporting and commercial potential

Through these acquisitions, the objective is clear: to rely on mares with proven performance or strong families, capable of bringing both sporting and commercial potential to METROPOLITAN’s progeny.

This strategy also aims to increase the international visibility of METROPOLITAN’s offspring, creating more opportunities across different sales markets.
